Introduction to Lathe.

By Posted in - on April 3rd, 2013

This beginner’s class is an introduction to safe and effective use of the lathe.  Turning wood is the fascinating process of shaping cylindrical pieces allowing a block to be transformed into a beautiful and functional piece of art.

Lecture/demo to include safety, various types of turning and their application, machine set-up, and basic tooling and cutting techniques.  There will be a brief written test to make sure you are awake!  Students will spend the majority of their class time trying their hand at a basic turning project.

The lathe is one of the most fun tools in the shop (and also one of the messiest).  Dress accordingly to make some dust with us!
